There are few women in Hollywood who seem like people we'd want to actually spend time with. You know, the kind of women who could bond over a bottle of Merlot, then spend the night dancing barefoot at a house party. The ones who would be as cool as can be, while maintaining an air of intelligence and exuding the sort of charisma that makes all other women jealous. We've all got imaginary Hollywood besties (what, that's just us?). Ours includes Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Kristen Bell, and another Bell: Lake. Lake Bell is, if you ask us, one of the most underrated actresses in Hollywood. She can do drama, sure, but the woman's comedic timing is pitch perfect. Literally. She can crack us up like no one else. Beyond all that, she comes off as smart, spunky, and fun to be around. The perfect woman, she is! Plus, we can admit: the girl is smokin'. Seriously, can we get some of those genetics over here?
Given our fangirl-like love for Lake, we were thrilled to see her featured in two of our must-reads in the past month: on the cover of New York Magazine, and in a feature spread in Lonny. The New York Mag spread is a must see (like we said, the woman is smokin'), the Lonny spread is a must-read (and features some serious design eye candy as well). Since this is a design blog, and not, ahem, a blog where we wax poetic about how hot the women of Hollywood are and how we wish we could possess such insane bodies, let's talk about Bell's backyard, as seen above.
How much do you want to hang there with your morning coffee and a stack of magazines? We'd happily invite ourselves over to her Brooklyn abode for brunch – but only if we could sink into that deliciously eclectic wooden daybed. We know the boho look isn't for everyone, but for Lake, it just fits. She exudes a sense of down to earth confidence that seems the perfect match for her laid-back space, from the eclectic selection of ikat pillows to the mismatched display of her husband Scott Campbell's art pieces. Add in some wicker, rattan, and linen, and you've got yourself a seriously stylish space. And to think, this is a backyard in Brooklyn (for all intents and purposes, these images could have been shot in LA, or somewhere that's a bit more green)! We love it. How about you?
