We love a good inspiration board, which is probably why we were drawn to this office, as featured in this month's new domino (ladies and gents, it's officially back from the dead!). It's part of the home of Ali Cayne, who runs New York City's foodie paradise, Haven's Kitchen. HK is a combination restaurant, event space and cooking school that specializes in seasonal, sustainable food, and let us tell you: the design in the space is to die for. Not so shocking, then, that Cayne's home, in the West Village (she relocated from the Upper East Side a year or so ago after realizing that her work and home needed to be closer together; Haven's Kitchen is located in downtown Manhattan), is a true work of art, with the eye of someone who knows design and color. Working alongside her architect, Cayne selected everything—each finish, paint color, and piece of furniture—without the help of an interior decorator. “I don’t have a background in design,” she says, “but I do know what I like.”
We know what we like, too, and it's this giant inspiration board that sits in Cayne's office. Seriously, how amazing of a statement piece is that? Of course, the glass trestle desk and Moroccan shag run aren't too shabby either! Love it. How about you? Would you do an oversized inspiration board?
