While we love to ooh and ahh over colorful, funky, eclectic spaces, our own tastes trend more on the neutral side of things, especially when it comes to living rooms. We love a pop of color as much as the next girl, but when it comes to the room in which we spend most of our time, we're partial to a neutral color scheme. Can you blame us? The room above proves that neutral isn't boring – it's far from it. There's just something about designing a neutral living room that allows for comfort to take center stage, without style taking a back seat. The best thing about designing your living room in a neutral color scheme is that you can more easily swap things out and make changes. It's also easier to layer different textures and styles on top of one another. When you're working within a neutral color scheme, you can mix French Country with Hollywood Regency. Styles are much more interchangeable when the general tones of the room stay the same.
Our favorite neutral living rooms are a mix of white and leather, with some metallics thrown in for good measure. Brass and gold play so nicely with a bright white couch, while an oversized leather chair adds a sense of history and warmth to the space. The moodboard below is all about the earth tones, with a gorgeous marble table lamp that simultaneously reminds us of the beach and makes us think about what the earth looks like hundreds of layers down. We've also added our favorite overstuffed but still oh-so-sophisticated white sofa (don't be afraid to go white on your sofa – you can always bleach it!), a large round mirror with the thinnest of frames (one of our favorite mirror trends right now), the chicest Regency-style side table we've ever seen, and a large tufted ottoman that can pull double duty as extra seating or a coffee table.
