Given the fact that rural America was effectively off the grid until FDR’s New Deal made wide reaching public utilities a reality, electric lights in historic Rustic Lodge style spaces are still a relatively new phenomenon. Though it hasn’t been even one hundred years since the lights were turned on, the selection and variety of lighting for this enduring American style is as interesting and inspiring as the land where it was born. Found objects like abstract shapes of wood or old wagon wheels become chandeliers or table lamps in the eyes of a Rustic Lodge craftsman. Wrought iron is shaped into minimalist scones, while the legacy of the old Spanish Missions found in the west inspires lanterns and pendants.
