When November rolls around, you can no longer deny it: the holidays are here. Thanksgiving requires lots of prep and coordination, and we like to come to our table prepared! From festive flatware to centerpiece showstoppers, there are several design choices to be made. Decorating a table for friends and family is a great chance to show off your styling abilities and leave guests grateful. Lost in the pool of thanksgiving table ideas on Pinterest and not sure where to begin? Don’t worry. Our blogger friends on Instagram are experts in holiday styling, and every year we find constant inspiration on their feeds. Here are some of our personal favorite Thanksgiving table decor ideas to get your decorating juices flowing!
1. Mix in Mod
Thanksgiving has been around since 1621, but just because the holiday is old doesn’t mean the decor needs to correspond. An Eames dowel chair is an amazing update to a traditional table. It’s fun, versatile and won’t distract from your other decor while revamping the dining room. Just take a look at this example we found on @happygreylucky. (Pro tip: A clean, modern mix like this is the perfect transition for the holidays, the winter season and beyond).

2. Go for the Gold
The color palette for your Thanksgiving dinner should be warm and cozy. Kick your table up a notch by pairing gold and white with the rusty autumn tones that the season demands. The pop of metal will add a luxurious quality to the meal that we love. The photo below is a perfect example of gold flatware elevating the earthy aesthetic found on @tableanddine account. I also LOVE our new Staub Pumpkin Cocottes – perfect for the holiday season.

3. Centered and Simple
We love the simplicity of this table. A beautiful table, chairs and flatware made seasonal and fun with a gorgeous on point centerpiece. White pumpkins here at the center create a Thanksgiving theme without being kitschy. We especially love the acrylic napkin rings that add a layered effect to the neutral palette. Of course, can you go wrong when the table is in the hands of our friend Amanda of @fashionablehostess?

4. Contemplate Complements
You may associate Thanksgiving with an earthy orange, red, and brown color palette. Fall foliage and pumpkins make it a seasonal go-to. But if you are itching to spice up your colors this season, try working with orange’s complementary color: blue! Blue will act as a fun accent and a pop of color. We love the soft blue pictured below and how well it pairs with the white pumpkins centerpiece and the nickel tone of the flatware.

5. Lovely & Light
As we’ve addressed, Thanksgiving is chalk full of with warm colors. If you want to create a fresh take on your Thanksgiving table, try a white tablecloth with metallic accents. This simple and elegant approach is sure to be appreciated especially with colder months coming a light table setting is a great send off to fall. (Pro Tip: the use of natural wheat is a great inexpensive way to tablescape decor).

6. Behold the Bounty
A cornucopia might not be the look your going for, but Thanksgiving was a celebration of harvest back in the day. Top your table with stunning produce that compliments your color scheme. Mini pumpkins, pomegranates and apples top this table and it’s stunning! Plus you can use the produce later, so it’s a win-win! The natural centerpiece on this table was paired with gorgeous gold flatware taking the table from rustic to refined.
