While we're all for an easy beach vacation, sometimes, we have to admit, we dream about doing something a bit more adventurous. Lac Rose, a milky pink lake situated north of the Cap Vert peninsula in Senegal, just might fit the bill. Experts say that Lake Retba (Lac Rose is the French name) gets its color thanks to cyanobacteria, a harmless bacteria found in the water. If the pink color weren't enough to persuade you, Lake Retba has a high salt content, much like the Dead Sea, allowing people to float effortlessly in the water. Really, what could be cooler?
