Kathy’s February Favorite: #1: Year of the Dragon
I’m originally from Taiwan, and celebrating Lunar New Year with loved ones has long been one of the highlights of my year—I always have a wonderful time with my children decorating my home with red lanterns and this year I hosted a dumpling-making party at my apartment to celebrate!
We are now in the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese Zodiac. What does that mean? Often, Dragon years are predicted to be prosperous and lucky, and those born in the Year of the Dragon (like my daughter Maya was!) are said to be intelligent, confident, charismatic, gifted, and powerful, as well as extra lucky.
The best part of Lunar New Year? The food—including home-made dumplings!

Kathy’s February Favorite: #2: Maison Margiela Replica Scents
Everyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love a nuanced and soothing scent—be it perfume, candles, oil diffusers, or soaps. Maison Margiela is one of my favorite brands for luxuriously layered scents that are just so special.

It wouldn’t be a roundup of my favorite things without a little something from Zimmermann! It’s chilly as can be here in NYC—not to mention that I have some snowboard time with my daughter on the calendar later this month—so a snuggly cable knit sweater is just what I need to stay chic as well as warm, from work days in the city, to apres afternoons in the mountains!

Kathy’s February Favorite #5: The Power of Nunchi: The Korean Secret to Happiness and Success by Euny Hong
I’ll round out my February faves in my favorite way: with a book I love! The Power of Nunchi is truly a must read for anyone hoping to understand and read others on a deeper level in order to have stronger relationships—both personal and professional.
Nunchi is said to be “the Korean sixth sense for winning friends and influencing people,” and at its heart, it’s the concept that observing others is essential to success and happiness. So much of our modern culture focuses on what we can each do as individuals to push our selves forward, but this book is all about the flip side of that—you have to also understand and respond to others around you in order for your actions to have the desired effect.
