There’s something blissfully idyllic about country charm in a home, especially in a dining space. If you feel inspired by the humility and elegance of French Country comfort, take a peek at our most recent collaboration with blogger and IG star Pamela Dyer of Home on Fern Hill! Pamela’s home is a little slice of French Country heaven, and when it came time to update her dining room, she knew Kathy Kuo Home was the perfect place to find the French Country furniture and decor she desired.
This cozy dining room is elegant, rustic, and chic—assured to wow any of Pamela’s dinner party guests. Read more below for some tips on how to achieve this French Country dining room look!
A Timeless Space To Cherish Forever
There’s nothing that compares to the warmth and comfort of a home dressed in refined provincial furniture and calming neutral tones. When styling Pamela’s home, we wanted our pieces to act as a focal point while complementing the stylish decor she already had in her dining room. For a feast of inspiration, Pamela looked through our French Country Board on Pinterest to get her design ideas flowing.
Charmed by the rustic and refined appeal of our gorgeous Harriet Weathered Drift Elm Dining Table and Juliet Ivory Linen Side Chairs, this served as the center of attention in the room. They also tied in beautifully with Pamela’s DIY weathered console. Everything else was chosen to compliment the set, so the rest of the room’s design naturally fell into place.
Quick Tip: When adding colors into your palette, draw from the naturally occurring colors of the earth: a soft sage or grassy green, yellows that remind you of sunrise, muted blues pulled straight from the sky, lush lavenders of the countryside, peony pinks, and misty greys.

An Illuminating Statement
For a cheerful French Country refresh, we kept the color palette neutral with vintage textures, cream tones, and decor that would reflect the natural sunlight that beamed into Pamela’s dining room. Our Charmaine Silk Crystal Table Lamps have a gorgeous translucent crystal body, so we knew they would be perfect additions for the ends of her elegant console.
The lamps we chose allowed light to pass through, and reflect off our Alondra Gold Frame Antique Mirror, illuminating the room even on the cloudiest days. Side note: Painted pieces should appear slightly weathered. Choose vintage finds you love that are timeless and chic, instead of pieces that just “look French Country.”

Calling Everyone Together
Let’s be real, dining rooms are the new family room. Making the space an inviting, comfortable, and elegant area is essential. There are plenty of ways to keep a rustic French farmhouse dining room looking elevated and gorgeous. Our go-to strategy is to light up the space with oversize wall mounted mirrors, allowing the sun’s rays to naturally brighten the room. One design tip we love is to pair your sophisticated pieces with contrasting components. A rustic chandelier can be paired with a distressed upholstered bench to add texture and elegance, instead of placing dining chairs all around the dinner table.
Since this is a space for food gatherings and fancy feasts, a little wine spill or drop of food is inevitable. That doesn’t mean you have to eighty-six the rug. One of our favorite elements of this dining room is the way that our Hand Tufted Area Rug pulls the whole room together, adding a subtle cozy touch to the rustic features of the furniture and decor. Area rugs are definitely a must when wanting to create a cohesive and curated look.
