It’s getting cool outside, and boy are we excited for cozy cardigans, pumpkin picking, and warm apple cider. The fall is also the season when we start to pay attention to the often ignored (although it shouldn’t be!) part of the house—the front porch. Driving around this time of year, you will find some stunning porches and home entryways…but BEWARE (using our creepy Halloween voice) of porches that err on the side of Party City gaud. This week, the Kuotes has some dos and don’ts to ensure your fall porch doesn’t fall flat.
Hang a wreath on the door or add some pumpkins into the mix, go ahead. We certainly are not advising you to cut out your festive nature. But instead of buying tacky decorations galore, let autumn do the decorating for you! Go pumpkin picking, and get a collection of shapes and sizes that can be arranged into a thoughtful display. Even better, find a patch where you can buy albino pumpkins: the smooth white surface adds an elegant touch and plays nicely off of natural fall colors. Branches, corn husks, berries, and other materials can be easily added to planters or vases. Or flank your doorway with cornhusks for a bold seasonal statement.
Glam is in this season, and don’t be afraid to show it in your fall decor:
Use color abundantly this season to make the front of your home come alive. Autumn is filled with beautiful hues, so don’t just add a splash here or there. Make a statement! Berry colors, rusts, golds, pinks, oranges, deep greens, and browns can be used in your outdoor rugs, cushions, and decor. Need some help selecting fall colors? Take a look at our favorites here.
Candle lanterns can serve as the perfect ambient lighting for a cool, autumn night, or stuff them with leaves, gourds, and florals and they can serve as terrariums!
