The client asked for an artful and luxurious design with more blues and purple in the color scheme. After the first design presentation, she told Kathy and the design team that they were her “design wizards” because they translated her taste and preferences perfectly. The end result was a major transformation–it went from a neutral lifeless space to something really personal, colorful, and sophisticated. We were proud to hear that the whole process brought the client’s “inner diva” to life and she was thrilled to be living in the type of home she always dreamed of.

The Design Challenge
To address the client’s request, our team turned to wallpapers, drapery fabric recommendations, chic sconces (which added a subtle nod to the art deco style) and a collection of vases to add touches of artful sophistication. Our team also designed custom framing around the wallpaper to add an architectural element that didn’t come with the home but was sure to elevate it. Overall, the challenge was to create a space that was glamorous with an emphasis on patterns and color. For example, the client really wanted to incorporate the idea of Persian rugs in the space as a nod to her own personal Iranian heritage. The addition of these rug choices added pops of pattern and color throughout the space that gave our team a groundwork for the color scheme. An additional challenge arose from the living room walls not being identical in size. In order to create a symmetrical visual effect our designers used wall accents, like well-placed sconces and wallpaper set into custom picture frame molding, on both sides in order to make the space appear symmetrical and equal despite the size differences. This balancing effect, paired with the octagonal grey-and-white bone and resin inlay coffee table, capiz shell cabinet, and customized white velvet sofa, made the space feel fit for a movie star from the golden age of Hollywood!

The Final Result
The end result of this interior design project is nothing short of spectacular. From the well-organized design presentation, order procurement, and installation process our team offers, to the way the KKH Design Team exceeded the client’s expectations by creating rooms full of color, contrasting materials, and luxe style. Not only were all of the client’s requests, concerns, and needs taken into consideration every step of the way, but the Team went above and beyond the Hollywood Regency motif she had envisioned for the space.
One element that really tied the final look of the space together is the statement lighting. The living room and dining room both feature extra-special chandeliers that truly serve as works of art and as a focal point for each room all on their own. The Illia Modern Gold Branch Quartz Stone Chandelier and the Oly Studio Muriel Clear Resin Bubbled Chandelier both radiate glamour as they make for an eye-catching focal point. Since both light fixtures are so artful, they complemented the glam and luxe furniture pieces effortlessly.
Other standout pieces included the gently curved sofa (which we were able to do in a performance velvet since the client had just gotten a new golden retriever puppy), the modern classic beveled poplar wood mirror, and the carefully chosen Modern Regency boxes, trays, and books used to style the coffee table in a way that infused the client’s personality.
Finally, for the dining room we were able to incorporate many of the same ideas, as our design team thoughtfully specifies every piece of furniture, lighting, and decor for each room they work on. The highlights of this room came from the stunning head-to-toe velvet dining chairs, colorful rug, whimsical chandelier and a simple yet elegant mahogany and gold accented extendable dining table.
A simple way our team incorporated a personal touch in the dining room was through the drapery fabric selection. The client’s daughter is an artist and loves watercolor so we found a really beautiful Miles Redd watercolor fabric that brought a softness to the room but felt ultra special and personal when we had it custom fabricated for her Modern Regency space.
At the end of the day, we were thrilled with the result, but more than that we love how our design team was able to transform this home so the client could truly say she loved where she lived.
