Hi there, cuties! Hard to believe that it’s already December…but that also means it’s time to kick off both the month and the holiday season with the latest installment of one of my favorite content series we have here at The Kuotes, our monthly Trade Member Spotlight. Meet Jennifer Davis, the founder and principal designer at Davis Interiors!
Based in Minnesota, Davis Interiors is a full-service interior design firm “committed to creating spaces that provide an effortless backdrop for everyday living” with a strong focus on “combining beauty and function.” Jennifer herself has over 25 years of experience in the design word, and she lives in Minneapolis with her husband (who also works with her), her two daughters, and her dog; when she’s not hard at work, she loves to spend time outdoors across the country.
“I find joy and peace in nature, especially on the lake and visiting the coast in California. But most of all, I love the calm of my own home, where I can truly unwind and recharge.” -Jennifer Davis, founder & principal designer, Davis Interiors

How would you describe the style of your own home? What’s your favorite piece of furniture or decor that you own?
My own home is in the Modern European Country style. My favorite piece of furniture is the coffee table that I inherited from my mother. She had it custom made based on an inspiration from a Kessler coffee table circa the early 90s. We have since removed the glass top and added reclaimed wood planks to the top sourced from a family farm.
Tell us about a notable project from the past few years.
One of my favorite projects was a full service new construction project for a young couple who gave us complete creative freedom, which was a dream come true and a turning point in my career.
“This project was also our first collaboration with Kathy Kuo Home. At that time, I was working solo, so the support provided through the Kathy Kuo Home Trade Program was invaluable.”
They envisioned an updated French Country aesthetic, which was a refreshing departure from the gray tones we were often asked to work with. Embracing this opportunity, we incorporated an abundance of wallpaper and carefully layered custom details, from custom window treatments and pillows, to antique pieces.

What have been some of the biggest joys and challenges you’ve faced in your career in the design industry?
My greatest joy in my career has been witnessing the growth of Davis Interiors, seeing our work published, and crafting exceptional experiences for our clients. The journey of growth, however, comes with its own set of challenges.
Learning to relinquish control and delegate responsibilities has been both demanding and essential. Each day, I push myself to refine our processes and enhance the experience for everyone involved—from clients to trades to team members.
Are there any design trends you see on the horizon for the year to come? Any trends on their way out?
I’ve noticed a growing trend of incorporating antiques and vintage pieces, even in modern interiors. Warmer, earthy brown tones are starting to gain popularity with the mainstream, mirroring how loved they already are in the design community.
As far as what is the way out, I think high-contrast black and white rooms and cool gray palettes are on their way out.

What advice would you give someone who wants to work with an interior designer on their home, but they feel intimidated or hesitant? For someone who’s never worked with a designer, what’s the major upside?
Find a designer whose work and personality truly resonate with you. Connecting on a personal level is just as important as admiring their portfolio. You will spend a lot of time together.
“Designers also have strong relationships with trusted vendors and trades ensure your project runs smoothly from start to finish.”
Choose someone who listens to your ideas, values your input, and makes the process enjoyable. Interior designers take the stress out of the process, saving you countless hours of scrolling, researching, and second-guessing- not to mention costly mistakes.
Speaking to fellow design pros: what advice do you have about working a challenging client or overcoming unforeseen obstacles on a design project?
When working with a challenging client or navigating unforeseen obstacles on a design project, my best advice is to approach every situation with gratitude. Each challenge is an opportunity for growth, strengthening your confidence and resilience in your business. Embracing a positive mindset not only fosters
better outcomes but also helps you manage stress more effectively.

Where do you draw the most inspiration from as a designer?
Travel and nature play a significant role in shaping my design vision. Additionally, I draw inspiration from my collection of old design books and as of late, my early childhood home has provided me with a lot of inspiration. My mother, now retired, was also an interior designer.
Are there any exciting updates with your business that you’d like our readers
to know about?
Yes, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! We are hosting our first Midwest Design Retreat! It is an exclusive three-day strategic business retreat for interior designers across the U.S. being held on May 5-7, 2025, in Minneapolis, MN.
The retreat is designed to empower interior designers by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to elevate their businesses and refine their processes.
