The Ask
For this meditative outdoor space, our client was looking for an enclosed private exterior with lots of versatility that felt harmonious with the hilly landscape of San Francisco and the property itself. The space needed to be dog-friendly, and it needed to feel like a sanctuary from the city outside.
The Solve
Our design solution kept two themes at heart: lush and layered. The entry to this private exterior lives off the master bedroom, so we designed the first tier as a convenient area for the dog to play and be let out. From the entry, tiered patios continue below. The second tier we transformed into a dedicated outdoor meditation room, complete with a custom bubbling fountain, perfect for yoga and relaxation. The third tier was designed around a cozy custom fire pit and serves as the home’s ultimate location for outdoor entertaining. To tie everything together, we partnered with our landscape architects and chose abundant verdant greenery to bring the space to life.
